Who I work with

Your life works, broadly, but at a significant cost, and you wonder whether there may be an explanation that has not yet been considered.

Your psychiatrist, psychologist, or therapist has raised autism as a possibility, and you would like a specialist assessment to explore this further.

You've received multiple mental health diagnoses, or perhaps a diagnosis of ADHD, but feel there may still be pieces of the picture missing.

You have a complex physical health history, such as hypermobility, EDS, PoTS, ME/CFS, or chronic pain, and would value a clinician who can consider the whole picture.

You'd like an initial professional steer on whether autism could make sense, before committing to a full assessment.

You see aspects of yourself in both autism and ADHD and want to explore them in a joined-up way.

A previous autism assessment did not feel representative of your experiences, and you would like a second opinion.

You were diagnosed in childhood and would like a deeper understanding of what that diagnosis means in the context of your adult life.

Experience

Clinical work
I am a Consultant Psychiatrist specialising exclusively in adult neurodevelopmental psychiatry since 2019. Formerly Clinical Lead of an NHS Adult Autism Diagnostic Service and a clinician within an NHS Adult ADHD Diagnostic Service, I have extensive experience in the assessment of autism and ADHD in adults. As a GMC Specialist Register psychiatrist with an endorsement in Liaison Psychiatry, I bring expertise in both physical and mental health.
Leadership and training
I am a member of the Executive Committee of the Royal College of Psychiatrists' (RCPsych) Neurodevelopmental Psychiatry Special Interest Group (SIG). I co-authored the RCPsych patient information leaflet on Autism and Mental Health. Through the National Autism Training Programme for Psychiatrists (NATPP), I have lectured nationally on autism diagnosis and risk assessment. I have also mentored consultant psychiatrist colleagues across the UK.
Education
I hold an MA from the University of Cambridge and an MBBS from University College London. I served as an Oxford University Medical Education Fellow and as an Honorary Teaching Fellow in the Department of Psychiatry. I am also a Fellow of the Higher Education Academy.
Lived experience
I am a late-diagnosed autistic psychiatrist with synaesthesia. I mention this because it is a question I am commonly asked. While my assessments are grounded in clinical training and evidence, lived experience provides an additional perspective.
